Today, Vermont State Government is a $3.6 billion per year organization comprised of 62 separate organizational units which employs nearly 9,800 workers in 1,800 different job positions.

All organizations must evolve and improve over time to better serve their customers and employees while consuming finite resources. Vermont government is no exception. The pursuit of “change” for improved effectiveness is a daily challenge before our public officials, citizens, state employees and this Vermont Institute on Government Effectiveness.
